About FernPrint

FernPrint is an invite-only community for photo stories: pictures that lead, and words that explain what the pictures cannot.

Why it exists

Most photo apps reduce a picture to a square in a feed and a number under it. Most blogs treat photos as decoration between paragraphs. FernPrint sits between the two. Every story opens with its image, every writer has a profile that reads like a portfolio, and the text gets room to say where, when and why.

How it works

  • Reading is free and needs no account.
  • Writers join by invitation. Each gets a profile at /their-handle/ with categories, topics and an RSS feed.
  • Replies need only a name. Moderators read each one before it appears.
  • No counters. No likes, followers or view numbers, and no advertising or tracking.

The look

The interface is kept in black, white and grey so photographs carry the colour. The one accent is fern green, used for the things you can act on. Small, monospaced meta lines under each story give only facts the site actually has: the date and the reading time.
