Reading
Do I need an account to read?
No. Every story, profile and topic page is open to anyone, and reading is free. There is nothing to log into as a reader.
How do I find more work by one writer?
Select their name or portrait on any story. Their profile shows every post as a card, with tabs for their categories and an About section with their bio and links.
What does the Follow button do?
It opens the writer’s RSS feed, at /their-handle/feed.xml. Add that address to a feed reader and new stories from that writer appear there automatically. There are no follower lists and no notifications from us.
Is there one feed for the whole site?
Yes: /feed.xml carries new stories from every writer on FernPrint.
What are topics?
Topics are tags writers add to their stories. Each topic has its own page that collects matching stories from every writer, newest first. Select a #topic on a card or under a story to open it.
Replies
How do I reply to a story?
Scroll to the end of the story, or select Comment on its card. Under Write a reply, enter a name and your message, then send it. No email address is needed.
Why doesn’t my reply show up straight away?
Every guest reply is read by a moderator before it is published. Replies that are never approved are deleted automatically after 30 days.
Can I edit or remove a reply I left?
There is no account to edit from, so ask us. On the contact page, choose ${T.privacy} and tell us the story and the name you used.
Writing here
How do I get a profile?
Profiles are by invitation only, and there is no public sign-up. To ask for one, use the contact page with the topic ${T.invite}. Tell us what you shoot and write about. We read every request, but cannot promise an invitation.
Who owns the photos and words?
The writer does. Publishing here gives us permission to host, show and distribute the work (for example through RSS), nothing more. The details are in the terms.
Can a writer take a story down?
Yes, a single post or the whole profile, at any time. Writers can ask through the contact page.
Problems
I found my photo used without permission.
Use the contact page and choose ${T.rights}. Include the address of the page on FernPrint and a link to your original.
How do I report a story or reply?
Choose ${T.report} on the contact page, paste the address and say briefly what is wrong. Our guidelines explain what is not allowed.
Can I email or phone you?
The contact page is the only way to reach us. Messages land in the site’s own inbox, and we reply by email when an answer is needed.
