Terms of use

These terms cover using FernPrint, whether you are reading, replying or publishing as an invited writer. By using the site you accept them. We have kept them as plain as we can.

The service

FernPrint is a publishing community for photo stories. Reading is free and needs no account. Writer accounts are given by invitation only; there is no public sign-up. The FernPrint team runs the site and may change, pause or discontinue any part of it at any time.

Reading and replying

You may read, link to and share links to anything published here. You can reply to stories with a name and a message. You are responsible for what you write in a reply. Replies are reviewed before they appear, and we may decline or remove any reply, including one that breaks our guidelines.

Invited writers

An invitation lets you keep a profile at /your-handle/ on these terms. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us through the contact page if you think someone else has used your account.

You are responsible for everything you publish: photographs, captions, text and links. You must have the right to publish it, and it must follow our guidelines.

Ownership and permission

You keep ownership of your photographs and writing. By publishing on FernPrint you give us permission to host, display and distribute that content as part of the service, including through RSS feeds, link previews and search engines, for as long as it is published here. You can ask for a post, or your whole profile, to be removed at any time through the contact page.

Links in stories are ordinary links chosen by the writer. Writers may link to their own websites and to their sources. We do not control other websites and are not responsible for their content.

If you believe your work appears here without permission, use the contact page and choose Image or text rights. Include the address of the page on FernPrint and a link to your original. We review every complaint and remove infringing material.

Fair use of the site

Do not try to break, overload or get around the site’s protections. That includes flooding the reply or contact forms, probing for security weaknesses, and scraping at a rate that slows the site for others. Feed readers and search engine crawlers working normally are welcome.

Removing content and closing profiles

We may remove any content, or close a writer’s profile, if it breaks these terms or the guidelines, or if we are required to. Writers can close their profile by asking through the contact page. Readers have nothing to close: just stop visiting.

No warranty

FernPrint is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that the site will always be available, error-free or secure, or that content published by writers or readers is accurate.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, the FernPrint team is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from content published by writers or readers, from links to other websites, or from the site being unavailable.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the “last updated” date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the new version.
